Irkutsk is often called the gate of the east because of the immediate proximity of China’s border. It was through Irkutsk that the great silk and tea paths passed. Here you will see European restraint and Asian flavor. The construction of the Trans-Siberian highway played a significant role in the development of the city. The Trans-Siberian Railway was built by decree of Alexander the Third. You will visit the Decembrist Museum and visit the city’s most attractions.

At the end of the tour, transfer to the hotel and accommodation.

Transfer to Listvyanka

On the way you will visit “Taltsy” – the open-air architectural-ethnographic museum. Here it was possible to preserve and recreate unique monuments of wooden architecture from the 17^th to 20^th centuries.

On arrival in Listvyanka a stop at the Shaman’s stone at the site of the source of the river Angara.

Lunch in a restaurant with panoramic views of Lake Baikal

In the afternoon acquaintance with the main sights: St. Nicholas Church, Baikal Museum, observation deck “Black Stone – Kamen Cherskogo”. You will learn all about the flora and fauna Lake Baikal, will see the underwater inhabitants of the lake, including the Baikal seal and also make a virtual dive to the bottom of the lake in the bathyscaphe. Shamanic amulets and mineral products and, of course, fish of different cooking methods are waiting for you at the local market.

Transfer to Irkutsk. Departure in Ulan-Ude by train

Arrival in Ulan-Ude in the morning

Tour of the city includes a visit to the Soviet square, the Opera and Ballet Theater, the historic center of the city and the Buddhist datsan Rinpoche Bagsha.

On the Soviet square there is a monument to V.I. Lenin in the form of a bust, which is one of the largest monuments to Lenin in the world. After the square, you will go down the pedestrian street of Lenin past the merchant houses of the 18th-19th centuries to the Odigitriev Church, a sample of Siberian Baroque, known for using oriental motifs (dharma's wrist). At the end of the tour, visit to the Buddhist datsan Rinpoche Bagsha, which offers a panoramic view of the city of Ulan-Ude.

Today you will find a rich excursion program. First, you will visit the Ivolginsky Datsan, a Buddhist monastery, a center of Buddhism in Russia. The complex impresses with its exterior and interior decoration, where there is an atmosphere of peace. It is here that the sacred shrine is kept - the incorruptible body of Lama Itigelov's Hambo, the uniqueness of which does not lend itself to any scientific knowledge.

After visiting Datsan, you will go to another unusual place – the Old Believers village, where live people of a different confession.

Here you will find dinner with Old Russian cuisine, a folklore program and a joke matchmaking ceremony.

Return to Ulan-Ude.
